About HRP Mamas


The Hudson River Park Mothers Group | HRP Mamas is Lower Manhattan's Mothers Support Group and Parenting Resource. Our organization brings mothers together online and in person, through a safe private online community, mother’s peer support circles, meet-ups, playgroups, and new mom support groups. In addition, our organization takes an active role in supporting the families of Downtown Manhattan with a robust calendar of parenting workshops, dads groups, support groups and special events.

HRP Mamas educational events are open to all parents. 





Our 3000+ member online community is comprised of local verified parents committed to supporting each other. HRP Mamas serves parents who reside in TriBeCa, Battery Park City, the Financial District, the South Street Seaport, SoHo, Noho, Two Bridges, Chinatown, The Lower East Side, the East Village, Greenwich Village, the West Village, Chelsea, and other areas of Downtown Manhattan in New York City.


Our Story

HRP Mamas was established in 2004 by a group of first time mothers who met through a new mothers support group. The bond this small group of moms shared was a positive and joyous one. The experience of finding other neighborhood moms with which to share this special moment and make lasting friendships helped us forge a community of support, resources and information. Inspired by the desire to pass on this supportive experience to others, the Hudson River Park Mothers Group was born.

With a network of over 2800 local moms, a calendar of lectures and workshops, vibrant online forums for group discussions or private emails, an archive containing 15 years worth of information and advice, a busy classifieds message board, expectant mom meetups, playgroups and mothers circles, select social events, email blasts about local events and activities, HRP Mamas offers unparalleled support and community, both online and in person, to mothers residing in Lower Manhattan.

Unlike many other online groups, the HRP Mamas online community is not anonymous. Each participant is a verified local mother. Verification occurs through referrals or in person meetings with group coordinators. This combination makes for an intimate and respectful environment, fostering friendships and community. Our goal is to nurture a supportive environment for expecting moms, new moms, moms new to the neighborhood, and for mothers of older children.

Mama Meet-Ups

HRP Mamas offers a variety of subgroups for mamas with children born around the same time, mamas with multiples, children with special needs, single mamas, language based groups, several special interest and many career support subgroups. Our organization and our coordinators take an active role in ensuring that our moms are able to meet each other and connect with one another through our subgroups and through a variety of events. 

There are also subgroups for moms who have moved away from Lower Manhattan and who now reside in other areas of Manhattan, suburbs in the tri-state area, Miami, London and Los Angeles. These subgroups have been set up upon request because our mamas so enjoyed the community while in Lower Manhattan, that they ask us to help them re-connect in their new homes. Satellite subgroups help mamas by providing support during the move and relocation process as well as in fostering community so that even when an HRP Mama moves away from Lower Manhattan, our organization can be of service.

Educational Events

Educational events organized by HRP Mamas are open to all: moms, dads, caregivers and other community members. If you are not eligible to join, but would like to be in the loop about our educational events, about community events, and local resources, please Sign Up for our announcement emails.

Why HRP Mamas

HRP Mamas understands that those first few months as a new mother can feel isolating. We also know that moving to a new neighborhood can sometimes feel lonely. Making friends and creating mindful connections with other mothers who share common experiences, attending playgroups and new mothers groups, finding out about local resources and events, can all help foster a sense of community.

We also believe that all parents need support and as such we take an extremely active role in providing great parenting events and workshops to the Lower Manhattan community as a whole.
