About HRP Mamas

The Hudson River Park Mothers Group | HRP Mamas is a social and support network for mothers of children born in 2003 or later who reside in Lower Manhattan. Our organization brings mothers together online and in person, through vibrant message boards, in person mother circles and playgroups, new mom support groups, and educational events for parents. Our more than 2000 community members are all local verified moms committed to supporting each other, who reside in TriBeCa, Battery Park City, the Financial District, the South Street Seaport, SoHo and other areas of the Lower Manhattan portion of New York City.
HRP Mamas was established in 2004 by a group of first time mothers who met through a new mothers support group. The bond this small group of moms shared was a positive and joyous one. The experience of finding other neighborhood moms with which to share this special moment and make lasting friendships helped us forge a community of support, resources and information. Inspired by the desire to pass on this supportive experience to others, the Hudson River Park Mothers Group was born.

With a network of over  2000 local moms, a calendar of lectures and workshops, vibrant online forums for group discussions or private emails, an archive containing 12 years worth of information and advice, a busy classifieds message board, expectant mom meetups, playgroups and mothers circles, select social events, email blasts about local events and activities, HRP Mamas offers unparalleled support and community, both online and in person, to mothers residing in Lower Manhattan.

Unlike many other forums or social networks, the HRP Mamas online community is not anonymous. Each participant is a verified local mother. Verification occurs through referrals or in person meetings with group coordinators. This combination makes for an intimate and respectful environment, fostering friendships and community. Our goal is to nurture a supportive environment for expecting moms, new moms, moms new to the neighborhood, and for mothers of older children.

If you are looking for a supportive, safe, kind, and informative Mothers Group and you are a mama or a soon to be mama who resides in TriBeCa, SoHo, The FiDi, The Seaport, Battery Park City, The Civic Center, and other neighborhoods in Lower Manhattan, The Hudson River Park Mothers Group looks forward to welcoming you!

In addition to our much loved Main Message Board and our Classified Message Board, HRP Mamas also offers several sub-groups for mamas with children born around the same time, mamas with multiples, children with special needs, single moms, language based groups, several special interest and career support sub-groups. Our organization and our coordinators take an active role in ensuring that our moms are able to meet each other and connect with one another through our sub-groups and through a variety of events.

There are also subgroups for moms who have moved away and who now reside in other areas of Manhattan, suburbs in the tri-state area, Miami and LA. These subgroups help mamas by providing support during the move and relocation process as well as in fostering community so that even when an HRP Mama moves away from Lower Manhattan, our organization can be of service.

Educational events organized by HRP Mamas are open to all: moms, dads, caregivers and other community members. If you are not eligible to join, but would like to be in the loop about our educational events, about community events, and local resources, please sign up for our announcement emails.

The Hudson River Park Mothers Group | HRP Mamas was listed repeatedly as one of the "Top 30 Parenting Listservs" by Babble.com and was profiled as a great resource in NY Family Magazine. Check out our Press for more.

Why HRP Mamas?

HRP Mamas understands that those first few months as a new mother can feel isolating. We also know that moving to a new neighborhood can sometimes feel lonely. Making friends and creating mindful connections with other mothers who share common experiences, attending playgroups and new mothers groups, finding out about local resources and events, can all help foster a sense of community.

Our goal at HRP Mamas is to connect mothers in Lower Manhattan to one another long before (as well as after) they join the PTA. Many mamas join as soon as they find out they are pregnant so that they may connect with other neighborhood mamas with similar due dates before their babies are even born.
